Get Your Band On introduces selected bands to record labels and brokers recording contracts.

Our talent scouts section is constantly on the look out for hot new rock bands to introduce to record labels.

We are also on the look out for record labels who want to find the best UK bands to sign up.

Contact us if you want us to help find hot bands for your record label or if your A&R reps want tickets for shows at which these bands are playing.

A&R means "artists and repertoire". A&R reps are talent scouts for record labels. They search for new acts, artists and bands, negotiate contracts with them and help them to develop.

GYBO is making contact with record labels so we can act as talent scouts for them and introduce bands to them.

Some stuff about record labels

The market for recorded music is dominated by four big names - Universal, Sony BMG, EMI and Warner.

Ok, these labels might sign an unknown band simply because it believes in them and likes their music. What is more likely is that a new band playing its own original music will get signed to one of the many smaller independent labels.

Bands often progress up the ladder by starting with small to medium labels and working their way up. There are several hundred independent labels in the Uk. Some of these specialise in particular styles of rock music and in the niche markets.

The sale of recorded music is steadily going over to the online media. CDs will be available for sales in shops for a long time to come, but the growth of the Internet is making MP3 sales, more and more common.

This means that it is possible for bands to set up their own record labels and there are many examples of this happening. Many bands manufacture and sell their own EPs and Albums, some of which they get into small record shops.

Negotiating a deal with a record label can be difficult and bands are advised to seek advice before signing a contract. Whilst many bands want to get signed, there many issues and pitfalls involved. Bands should seek the guidance and support of a manager before attempting to negotiate their own deal with a label.
