Running a band management agency didn't work [from December 2004 to November 2009]. There were a lot of reasons for this. It was during this period that Trevor Locke [the founder] was working with bands. He built up a body of knowledge, information and contacts that he thought would be worth sharing with the nation's unsigned bands.
Trevor decided to wind up Get Your Band On as an artist management business and turned the GYBO web site into an online magazine about band management, promotion and publicity.
Well, that was his idea. But ... Trevor already was the editor of an increasingly successful local arts magazine - ArtsinLeicestershire [founded in February 2005].
Many bands and industry colleagues encouraged him to keep going with his band management work and so the idea of turning GYBO into a magazine was born.
Five years ago Trevor set up a little local web site called ArtsinLeicestershire. It has grown into a successful and much loved and well respected platform for the bands and arts of Leicester.
As Artsin grew, so did the amount of time needed to keep up with the ever growing local music scene. By the end of July 2010, the GYBO web site had not changed and so, sadly but realistically, the decision was made to give up the ghost and put all the available resources into making Artsin a highly successful publishing product.
